Companies
In Switzerland, English often serves as the common language for companies bringing together multiple cultures and nationalities. Immersion in a national language allows individuals to take a step closer to one another. Speaking someone else’s language shows mutual interest and can open unexpected doors.
The collateral benefits of theatrical play for the workplace are countless :
- Integration of new team members
- Friendliness
- Team Spirit
- Flat hierarchy
- Self-affirmation
- Development of interpersonal skills
- Collective innovation
- Image and Communication
Programs are tailored to the specific needs of each company, with flexible arrangements to be determined. In addition to the program itself, it is also possible to :
- Write a text and create a tailor-made performance
- Involve artists, musicians, and more
- Incorporate the performance into a larger event
Schools and Program Institutions
Because we can’t find the right words or fear making mistakes, we often hesitate to speak in front of others. German isn’t very popular among French-speaking Swiss, and French can feel distant as soon as you move away from the language border.
You might struggle with the subjunctive and still have flair. PARLABLE’s method complements traditional teaching approaches and can serve as a spark for learners.
Trainers can also participate in the workshops alongside learners, gradually becoming familiar with PARLABLE’s playful approach. When relevant, a teaching guide is provided with the training.
The benefits of the PARLABLE approach for learners :
- Improvement of Speaking Skills
- Overcoming barriers and preconceptions
- Diversity of learners’ skills
- An alternative where traditional methods fall short
- Image and communication of the training organization
Workshops can be accompanied by training for foreign language teachers. This training focuses on providing simple tools for group facilitation and guiding a performance using four theatrical techniques :
- Spatial awareness
- Rhythm work
- Focus on stage addresses
- Creation of concrete actions
Integration and community involvement
The PARLABLE method can be applied in groups that include people from migrant backgrounds. While it supports language learning, its main impact is in helping learners integrate fully into their new community.
Benefits of the method for learners from migrant backgrounds :
- Building confidence in a national language
- Breaking down barriers
- Recognition
- Role in society
- Network development
- Interpersonal connections
- Learning social codes
- Image and Communication
Here too, it is highly beneficial to mix audiences and include teachers, social work professionals, theatre enthusiasts, and to consider all participants equally as part of the performance creation project.
